EN DIFFICULTE EN FRANCE, SARKOZY REPART A LA PECHE AUX VOIX EN S’ATTAQUANT AUX QUOTAS DE PECHE COMUNAUTAIRES…
Nous avons décidément un président démagogue (l'arrêt de la pub sur France2, «parce qu'on ne peut pas imposer de la pub aux contribuable sur une chaîne publique» est un autre exemple), et finalement, irresponsable. A quoi sert l'annonce hier de la remise en cause des quotas de pêche acceptés par les 27 pays de l'UE en Conseil? Le président est-il en tel désarroi depuis l'annonce de sa baisse de popularité continue, qu'il va dire n'importe quoi pour la faire remonter auprès de telle population, puis auprès de telle autre? Cela s'appelle du clientélisme.

ENVIRONNEMENT: LA RESPONSABILITE TOTAL
Dans le verdict rendu hier, la question à laquelle la justice répond enfin est celle de la responsabilité en cas de dégât sur l’environnement.Qu’on le regrette ou non, nous vivons dans une société qui donne une valeur commerciale à tout. C’est sur cette base que la justice a pu, jusqu’à aujourd’hui, exiger des réparations financières en cas de dégradations des biens. La nature, sauf pour ceux qui cherchent à la breveter, n’avait pas de valeur en soi… jusqu’à hier.

DALLAS THINKTANK CLAIMS U.S. CUTTING GREENHOUSE GASES BETTER THAN EUROPE
(Source: Pegasus News wire – United States of America) Despite constant criticism from environmental activists at home and across Europe claiming the U.S. government is doing nothing to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, new evidence suggests America's efforts are more effective than those of Europe's. According to a scholar with the right-wing National Center for Policy Analysis (NCPA), the U.S. has spent more on research and technologies to reduce climate change than any other country, and its business-led efforts are paying off.

THE GREAT SWITCH OFF
How many lightbulbs does it take to save the world? No joke here – it is a serious question that the Alliance for the Planet is asking its fellow citizens of the world. Today, February 1st, at 1855 GMT, French environmentalists are urging everybody to turn off all lights and gadgets in stand-by mode for just five minutes in a show of solidarity against global warming.

DESERT ATHENS!
People often ask me if I miss Greece and how could I ever leave a country with sunshine throughout the year and temperatures well above 15 degrees, to come and live in a country that is dark, with snow, short summers and dark winters. Usually I escape with humor, but the truth is that I could not survive a summer in Greece and I have avoided being there during the summer months of July and August since 1980.
